The UK's funkiest B&B announced at the AA awards

The £1.6 million design-led Windermere Suites in the heart of the Lake District has scooped the award for the UK’s Funkiest B&B at the official AA B&B Awards held at the Langham in London on 10th June.

Eight breathtaking romantic suites

Located in Windermere, a stones throw from Bowness-on-Windermere, one of England’s most popular tourist destinations, Windermere Suites is a unique B&B, doubling up as designer showcase for the very best, cutting edge furniture, furnishings and accessories.

It comprises eight lavishly fitted suites, each one boasting its own individually designed lounge and dining area, complete with serving hatches to guarantee privacy and discretion. Guests take meals in their own suite, so for those who have come simply to gaze at each other, there’s no need to leave. There’s also a stunning bathroom with giant air baths for two people to share, chromo therapy mood lighting, underfloor heating, oversized showers and LED waterfall taps.

According to the owners, Colin and Vicky Monk, over half the guests who have come to stay at Windermere Suites have done so either to propose or to spend their honeymoon. Guests can opt for the Romantic Package – including Champagne and strawberries dipped in chocolate – or the Naughty Package – including a blindfold, mini massager and body butter.

However, there’s more to this B&B than meets the eye. Colin and Vicky wanted to create something a bit different, so almost everything in the Suites is available for the guests to order, be it a stylish Kartell Philippe Starck Ghost Chair, a supremely comfortable Frank Hudson silver leaf kingsize bed or a Villeroy & Boch crockery set.
